The ACT Government has made clear it wants to establish an Urban Growth Boundary and hire a landscape architect before this term of government is over.
Both were called for by the former Commissioner for Sustainability and Environment in the Close to the Edge report, examining how land use planning and urban development had impacted on Canberra’s natural environment in recent decades.
Kurrajong Independent MLA Thomas Emerson questioned why it took 10 months for the government to respond in the first place and why the recommendations were noted rather than accepted.
