More than 2600 jobs have been lost across Canberra's night spots despite sales and the number of establishments in the territory growing, a new analysis has found.
Thomas Emerson, the independent member for Kurrajong, said the decline in employment showed the need for an NSW-style night-time economy commissioner for Canberra, a position he has previously advocated for. He also renewed calls for insurance reform and greater government intervention in the city's nightlife.
