A politician and tech chief executive are calling for the ACT to modernise its Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) system to help protect children after a childcare worker retained their card despite being fired over a child sex abuse allegation.
Independent ACT politician Thomas Emerson and Oho chief executive Liv Whitty said the territory is the only Australian jurisdiction without an online portal for verifying WWVP numbers.
