The board chair of the Canberra Institute of Technology Tom Rogers says Margot McNeill received about $445,000 upon her resignation yesterday after months of controversy.
Independent MLA Thomas Emerson said Dr McNeill's resignation had come as a "relief".
"I think this is an outcome that's going to be welcomed by many staff at CIT and by the broader community here in the ACT that deserves assurances our taxpayer funds are being used appropriately," he said on ABC Radio Canberra this morning.
Mr Emerson used parliamentary privilege to make claims of professional misconduct against the Electric Vehicle TAFE Centre of Excellence in May, disclosed to him by a whistleblower.
