For seven years, on and off, Stephen Goodwin has had a basketball hoop set up at the end of his quiet, suburban cul-de-sac in O'Connor. Somewhere for kids of all ages to shoot a few hoops after school and dream of being the next Patty Mills or Lauren Jackson.
Independent MLA Thomas Emerson has come on board as part of a push to turn the street into a pilot for an active street program across Canberra.
Emerson has written to City Services Minister Tara Cheyne in an attempt to make it a pedestrian-friendly street - like Bunda Street in Civic - and have the speed limit reduced to 10-20kmh.
