Greens MLA Laura Nuttall introduced a motion to the Assembly calling for a dedicated strategy to tackle youth homelessness in the ACT. Miss Nuttall’s motion also called for improved data collection, and for the Government to report back to the Assembly by 2 December 2026 on progress toward the development and implementation of the youth homelessness strategy.
Thomas spoke in strong support of the motion, and noted that pushing for the development of a targeted youth homelessness strategy was among his election commitments. In his speech, he stressed the need for any future strategy to be funded and implemented in full, pointing to commitments in several existing ACT Government plans and strategies that had not been delivered on.
The motion passed the Assembly with unanimous support.
