At one point, Basketball ACT's 15-year push for funding seemed so futile they considered selling the land next to their Belconnen stadium.
The Canberra Times can reveal the ACT government has taken the land of the "expanded asset" in exchange for the $37.5 million in funding.
It will give Basketball ACT three extra indoor courts, with the ability to create an 1800-seat show court at the Belconnen facility.
Independent MLA Thomas Emerson asked Steel about the government's 2018 indoor sports facilities plan in a question on notice.
