Independent MLA Thomas Emerson has welcomed the ACT Government’s decision to spend $58.8 million on community services and frontline support programs in the 2026-27 Budget, describing the funding boost as overdue.
The package includes $23.7 million in additional funding for community sector organisations, alongside $14.8 million for community legal assistance and justice support services.
Mr Emerson said the permanent funding uplift followed sustained advocacy for long-term support for community organisations facing rising demand linked to population growth and cost-of-living pressures.
