The ACT Government has committed to establish a Board of Inquiry, effectively a royal commission, to investigate systemic issues surrounding Aboriginal deaths in the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC).
The government has resisted years of requests for such an enquiry but was pushed into action by a motion brought by independent MLA Thomas Emerson that passed through the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
