Canberra families pay nearly $100 more to put their children in long day care centres than other Australians despite having the least qualified and and most inexperienced teachers, new data shows. The Productivity Commission released information about long day care centres, family day care centres, vacation and after hours services and preschools on Wednesday.
Independent ACT politician Thomas Emerson, who advocated for the release of early childhood documents, said the territory government needed to "look at how we reduce pressure on educators so they stay in the sector".
