Clearing of trees in a new northern Canberra suburb "should be avoided" as ACT conservationists try to understand if it is a key habitat for koalas.
A June 2025 report from the nature conservation office, explains testing results after a gula, the Ngunnawal name for koala, was found in new Gungahlin suburb Jacka.
The due-diligence report was released after a freedom of information request by independent Kurrajong member Thomas Emerson.
