A requirement for the ACT's senior public servants to more actively improve outcomes for Indigenous people is a step closer, with a parliamentary inquiry recommending the principle should become law.
Kurrajong independent Thomas Emerson says he will amend his bill to clear up the issues raised by the committee, which concluded the amended bill should pass.
"Twenty years after we first started talking about Closing the Gap, any further delay is completely unacceptable. This bill can mark a turning point for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT, and I expect to see it passed this year," Mr Emerson said.
