A burnt-out former health building behind Ainslie Shops could be reborn as a community hub, garden, and playground under a proposal submitted to the ACT Government.
Independent MLA Thomas Emerson has lodged a detailed community submission outlining a three-stage plan to revitalise the government-owned site at 91A Wakefield Gardens, which has been disused for two decades, and was damaged by fire earlier this year.
“There’s a growing group of volunteers who are ready to help deliver on a comprehensive community-led vision for this massively underutilised public asset,” Mr Emerson said. “This is a unique opportunity for the Government and community to work together on a genuinely co-designed and co-delivered initiative.”
